The manuscript of the Conqueror's historian Kritivulos is in the archives of the Topkapi Palace.
Mehmet the Conqueror had more than one royal historian. One of them was the historian Kritovulos from Gokceada (Imbros), who was of Byzantian origin, but had accepted the Conqueror's invitation, and started to work for the Conqueror. Like the other historians, Kritovulos had attended Mehmet the Conqueror's expeditions and wrote a book about this subject. The book that was written by Kristovulos, the original of which is still under protection at the Topkapi Palace, talks about Mehmet the Conqueror's visit to Troy in 1462 in detail.
