"A type treasure" or Priamos Treasure is the most known and impressive among the findings, and according to Schliemann's notes from 31 May 1873, it was found on the "city walls of Troy and right beside of the house of Priamos". much has been said about this treasure since its discovery. Few accepted "Schliemann's claim concerning the treasure because he madecontradictory statements about his discovery. But according to the English researcher D. Easton, who is the most respected expert of Schliemann and treasures, this treasue was found right in front of the city walls of Troy II and at the same level of the visible part of the city wall. Treasure was inside of a stone house, almost a chest from stone. It was buried under a thick fire layer. Schliemann discovered the treasure on 31th May of 1873, but he was unaware of the city wall there, and therefore he believed that it was a part of the" palace of Priamos" with many rooms. At first, Schliemann tried to hide the treasure -and maybe its history- especially from the the Ottomanauthorities And although he says that his wife Sophia stood by him during the discovery, later it became clear that this was not true.

Our current information about the treasure is that it was inside a tower from Troy II (2500 B.C.E.) and this area was then veiled completly during a building of a stone platform. Because of the fire layer and the stone platform which he regardes as "Skaia Door", Schliemann thought that Troy II is the Homeric Troy/Ilios he was searching but he was in error, forgetting a 1250 years seperating Troy II from Homer's Troy. In his last year, in 1890, he realized his mistake.
