What would happen if the Iliad wouldn't reach us?

First there was the epic of the Iliad. This epic, transcribed in Western Anatolia, tells us for centuries the greatest of all wars, the unseen furies, the unspokable sorrows and the tricks that suddenly change the course of events. This epic, mostly read as heroic or war epic, shows also the meaninglesness of war. All heroes are in fact tragic individuals. Even when they are enemies, they cry together for their deep sorrows.

The Iliad, rising from this universal basis, brings us the cultural, historical and literary heritage with its unique collation. If Homer didn't transcribe these epics and so that the history of culture remained unaware of these epics, then we would be devoid of thousands of poems, literary works, paintings, theater works that were inspired by the Iliad. And at the same time, our perception of ruins of Troy would be much different. Maybe there would be no place such Troy.
