Which country sends the most visitors to Troy?

Up until the new period excavations that Professor Osman Korfmann started in 1988, the number of annual visitors to Troy was around ten thousand a year. We can count among the reasons the underdeveloped state of the historical site, scarcity of information, lack of measures regarding restoration and protection, and lack of proper presentation. Troy had become a ruin of ruins due to lack of care and interest. In parallel with the excavations, Osman Korfmann developed projects for the care of the historical site; had information panels in three languages (Turkish, English and German) for the first time and prepared a travel guide for the historical site. The fact that the results of the new excavations were publicized by means of exhibitions, publications, conferences, and documentary films, made sure that the number of visitors gradually increased. Especially after the Hollywood production of Troy, the number of annual visitors increased to over half a million people. The majority of visitors are foreign tourists. These foreign visitors mostly come from the United States, Europe (Germany, France, etc.) and Japan. However, in recent years, we see a huge increase in the number of local tourists that visit Troy. Among the tourists that come to Çanakkale, approximately 90% come to visit Troy. The number visitors who visit the Dardanelles War Zone have increased in recent years; unfortunately, this increase is not directly reflected in the number of tourists who visit Troy.
